Alarm.com VDBA-770BAT Battery Replacement Kit
The VDBA-770BAT replaces existing VDB770 batteries that have reached end-of-life. The 770BAT can also replace the battery-less insert in the ADC-VDB-770. Homes with a wired digital chime require a battery and cannot use the battery-less insert.
The ADC-VDB770 video doorbell previously shipped with an internal battery and heater to allow it to operate even in low temperature environments. Recently, they switched to a battery-less insert to allow it to operate in low temperature environments and also in environments with a lot of direct sunlight. The battery-less insert resists over-heating that can occur in warm environments with a lot of direct sunlight. This resulted in the change to overcome some of the battery-related challenges that some experienced in hot environments.
The battery-less insert is perfect for installations with a standard mechanical chime. But installations with a digital chime, MUST use a battery and cannot use the battery-less insert. For this reason, if you are purchasing a new ADC-VDB770 and you have a digital chime, you must also purchase the ADC-VDBA-770BAT. You will need to swap the battery-less insert for the battery before installation.
